Chicago, January 4, 2013- Intelligent Generation was officially accepted as a voting member by the regional transmission organization PJM. As the world’s largest grid operator serving over 50 million users, PJM coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia.
Though IG has worked closely on pilot programs with PJM’s Advanced Technology Resource division since 2010, this milestone brings the relationship to a new level. IG enjoys support from PJM’s market operations group to certify and qualify its virtual power plant storage assets into the wholesale market for fast response frequency regulation. When IG receives payment for frequency regulation, it makes smart-solar with storage profitable.
