Wheaton College has long been a leader in campus sustainability, and their energy storage project is a testament to that commitment. The college faced the common institutional challenge of "demand charges," where a single hour of high electricity use during a summer afternoon can inflate the bill for the entire month. By integrating 2,000kW of storage with 1,100kW of solar, the college now uses Intelligent Generation’s software to automatically "shave" those expensive peaks. This project serves a dual purpose: it significantly reduces the college’s operational overhead and provides a real-world laboratory for students to study the future of the clean energy grid.
