The Medical Center Company serves as the energy backbone for Cleveland’s University Circle, providing steam and electricity to world-class institutions like the Cleveland Clinic. In an environment where power reliability is a matter of life and death, MCCo partnered with Intelligent Generation to deploy a massive 15,400kW / 30,835kWh battery system. This project represents a milestone in urban energy, allowing the district to manage its 1,000kW solar array with precision. By using the battery to provide high-speed frequency regulation to the PJM grid, MCCo has turned a necessity—energy reliability—into a revenue-generating asset that stabilizes costs for some of the nation’s most important medical facilities.
